The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health and Prevention’s Health Assistant Sector, Health Centers and Clinics, His Excellency Dr. Hussein Abdel Rahman Al-Rand, has underlined that the UAE’s pioneering experience and unprecedented success in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic stems from the most stringent precautionary and preventive measures adopted and the adherence to WHO guidelines in terms of developing medical screening protocols, enhancing the early detection of infected cases, expanding lab capacity, offering appropriate quarantine facilities, using appropriate treatment protocols, in addition to implementing the active contact tracing.
This was stated on the sidelines of the meeting which was held virtually between Dr. Hussein Abdel Rahman Al-Rand and a high-level Mexican delegation headed by Francisca Escobar, Ambassador of Mexico to the UAE, accompanied by representatives of Mexico’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Health.
Present at the meeting also were Dr. Nada Hassan Ahmed Al Marzouki, Director of the Preventive Medicine Department, and Layla Al Jasmi, Head of the Immunization Department.
Adopting best global practices
Welcoming the visiting delegation, Al-Rand reaffirmed the UAE’s keenness to share its experience in handling the pandemic with other world countries and its openness to the international medical experiences, as well as its commitment to enhancing the cooperation in the health field, explaining the precautionary measures the country has adopted under a rigorous follow-up and unlimited support of the wise leadership.
He added: “Since the Covid-19 outbreak, we’ve launched a slew of health initiatives to counter the spread of the virus and have adopted the best global practices in the health risk assessment field. This is in addition to enhancing precautionary measures for rapid response and instant control of the virus, as well as protecting community members through the early detection of infected cases and the isolation of the close contacts.”
National strategy
“Further to that, the UAE has drawn up a national strategy for preparedness and epidemic management and innovated digital health solutions, in addition to strengthening the government investment in manufacturing medicines and vaccines to confront future epidemics,”
Concluding his remarks, Al-Rand shed light on the UAE’s achievements in the quality of health services, the competency of medical staff, and the development of the health sector, attributing the success to the flexible legislations, the availability of outstanding regulatory and supervisory, the smart and digital transformation of most licensing services, and the import and export of medical products and supplies.
Capitalizing on success stories
The visiting delegation lauded the UAE’s health sector and the sophisticated infrastructure of health facilities, expressing hope for strengthening the existing cooperation and capitalizing on success stories and creative policies and initiatives the UAE has developed over the past years, making it the most prepared country to counter Covid-19 challenges. The delegation expressed keenness to leverage official documents and data on the preventive measures the UAE has adopted during the pandemic, extending their gratitude to the UAE wise leadership for the medical supplies dispatched to Mexico to back up the capabilities of health workers in their fight against Covid-19.
