The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has taken part in the 5th Conference on Health Innovation, which was held in Dubai to discuss key issues, including digital transformation, customer experience, healthcare security, and the importance of digital innovations in reshaping the future of health care.

HE Dr. Amin Hussein Al Amiri, Assistant Under-Secretary for the Health Regulation Sector, MoHAP, inaugurated the conference in the presence of senior officials from both public and private health entities as well as experts in health digitization from the UAE and around the world. The conference showcases the latest innovations that have changed the course of work in the health field.

Advanced Innovation Strategy

Speaking during the event, Al Amiri emphasized that the UAE's wise leadership has played a crucial role in fostering innovation via its vision and directives and has, therefore, launched the National Strategy for Advanced Innovations, which includes the quality of life as one of the innovation's primary pillars.

“The UAE has always been proactive in accelerating advanced innovation in most sectors, including the healthcare field,” Al Amiri said, adding that the ministry has been also successful in securing the Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies, which are based on artificial intelligence, blockchain, virtual and augmented reality, and cloud computing.

Pillars of the next fifty-year vision

Al Amiri's speech also touched on key tenets of the next fifty-year vision for the health sector, which seeks to adopt a vigilant health care system capable of predicting the emergence of diseases and pandemics, while focusing on preventive care, healthy lifestyle, biological and genetic medicine, and modern health facilities, as well as encouraging research, development, and use of big data for innovation, highlighting the significance of mental health and personalized medicine, and improving patient experience and occupational health.

The conference touched on the role that digital breakthroughs, such as blockchain, cloud computing, augmented reality, virtual reality health, artificial intelligence, robots, digital reality, Internet of Medical Things (IoMT), telemedicine, precision medicine, and others, would play in advancing healthcare services and altering the current healthcare delivery system. It also emphasizes how crucial it is for the health industry to establish cybersecurity plans and regulations.
