The Ministry of Health and Prevention attracts more than 29 visiting consultants’ pioneers in various medical specialties to 13 hospitals

The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) has announced the details of its Visiting Consultants Program for the month of September 2019, to provide advanced diagnostic and therapeutic services to patients.

During September, more than 29 visiting consultants specialized in interventional and non-invasive cardiology, anesthesiology and pain management, rheumatology, geriatrics, rhinoplasty, psychiatry, pediatric neurology… will be visiting 13 MoHAP hospitals.

The consultant’s fields of expertise also include gastroenterology, bariatric surgery, physiotherapy, robotic surgery of obstetrics & gynecology, pulmonology, endocrinology, diabetes, Nephrology, ENT, pediatric rheumatology, pediatric plastic and reconstructive surgery, pediatric psychiatry, Geriatrics, and Orthopedic Surgery.

The ongoing Visiting Consultants Program is set to benefit patients and visitors of MoHAP hospitals including Al Qassimi Hospital for Women and Children, Kuwait Hospital in Sharjah, Al Qassimi Hospital, Al Dhaid Hospital, Kalba Hospital, Ibrahim Bin Hamad Obaidullah Hospital (Ras Al-Khaimah), Khorfakkan Hospital, Al Amal Psychiatric Hospital, Saqr Hospital, Shaam Hospital, Dibba Hospital, Masafi Hospital, and Fujairah Hospital.

Dr. Sultan Ahmed Sharif, Director of the MoHAP's Visiting Consultants Office, stressed that selecting the medical specialties for the visiting consultants is subject to accurate criteria and is done according to the priorities of the program, especially patients' needs.

“We do always select pioneer doctors when selecting in specialties. This is to achieve the outstanding results from the program, in line with the ministry's strategy to provide comprehensive and integrated health care services according to international standards”, he further said.

Dr. Sharif added that the smart online portal for the Visiting Consultants Program launched by the ministry last April, has effectively contributed to accelerating performance, facilitating the flow of data, and following up the progress of applications. Thus, the Program has become even more dynamic, efficient, and accurate.

He noted that the portal has also helped measure the satisfaction of patients, visiting consultants and hospitals, through introducing customized questionnaires, which is reflected positively on patients especially that they are getting treated in UAE instead of traveling abroad for treatment.
