The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has showcased the latest developments introduced to the e-Claims Post Office, the data exchange system that facilitates the secure exchange of health insurance claims-related data between healthcare providers and payers.
This comes on the sidelines of the ministry’s participation in the 42nd edition of GITEX Technology Week, which is being held at the Dubai World Trade Center from October 10 to 14.
The e-Claims Post Office falls under the National Unified Medical Record (NUMR)- Riayati, which connects hospitals, clinics, and health care providers with one another. The service, which was first launched in October 2020, manages and tracks the central information related to electronic insurance claims using unified coding for all service providers and insurance companies.
Digital Platform
The e-Claims Post Office provides a digital platform through which health service providers can raise and follow up on insurance claims. In addition, it speeds up the processing of electronic claims and reduces their rejection. It also contributes to increasing the level of patient safety by preventing duplicate services and verifying each medical emergency.
The service covers the workflow of all claims between health care facilities and insurance companies, starting from verifying patient's eligibility and insurance coverage, to receiving payment information online, in addition to submitting claims and tracking denials. All these services can be followed up on and monitored by authorized users of healthcare facilities without relying on insurance companies.
Innovative Solutions
Ali Al Ajmi, Director of the Digital Health Department, emphasized that the ministry is keen to take part in every new edition of GITEX Technology Week to introduce its most recent digital healthcare services and initiatives as well as to highlight its cutting-edge health care solutions, which were developed to bring about a paradigm shift in the country's health sector and establish an effective and sustainable healthcare system.
Al Ajmi added that the e-Claims Office provides better management and tracking of central data pertaining to electronic insurance claims as the platform enables healthcare service providers to submit and track insurance claims, thus enhancing the standard of processing services, lowering the cost of medical care in the country, and strengthening oversight of the insurance system to limit misuse of financial resources.
He pointed out that 40 health insurance companies and more than 1000 health facilities were linked to the platform, through which more than 4 million transactions were processed.
