His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Salim Al Olama, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) and Head of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Health Services Corporation, recently visited Masafi Hospital in Fujairah, one of the hospitals allocated to the treatment of the new coronavirus (COVID-19) patients.
The visit aims to identify the efforts of the medical, technical and administrative cadres in providing distinctive and efficient healthcare according to the highest international practices, as well as to ensure that all the preventive measures have been adopted to counter the spread of the virus and reduce the chances of transmission, and to enhance capabilities to deal with emergencies.
Al Olama was accompanied by His Excellency Dr. Youssif Al Serkal, Assistant Undersecretary for the Ministry’s Hospitals Sector and Director General of the Emirates Health Services Corporation, where they visited COVID-19 patients who underwent the stem cells therapy by inhaling the treatment into their lungs after it has been nebulized into a fine mist. The patients expressed this happiness with the noticeable improvement in their health conditions and that they begin to recover, thanks to this medical breakthrough, voicing gratitude to the diligent medical teams who work around the clock to deliver the best healthcare service.
All capacities are provided
During his visit, Al Olama was briefed, by Dr. Mohammed Abdullah, Director of Fujairah Medical Zone, about the healthcare services provided and the hospital’s daily work routine in terms of receiving, examining, diagnosing infected cases. He was also informed about the integrated role of the medical staff and the contribution of MoHAP’s devices and supplies to expediting patient’s treatment and recovery.
Commending the efforts made by the hospital staff in providing patients with the best healthcare services according to the approved treatment program, Al Olama underlined MoHAP’s keenness to provide all the capabilities to enhance the absorptive and operational capacity of hospitals and raise their preparedness to counter the virus and to provide healthcare and treatment services, according to the best medical standards and the highest levels of quality, in line with the directives of the wise leadership which places the protection of people's health as a national priority and that all the country resources are harnessed to overcome this crisis.
Appreciating sacrifices of medical cadres
MoHAP’s Undersecretary pointed to the ministry’s proven track record of medical expertise and its plans to deal with the virus updates, as well as its healthcare programs to contain any possible repercussions.
He thanked the medical and nursing cadres for the spirit of giving and sacrifice they show and for being at the frontline to combat this global pandemic, congratulating the nursing staff on the International Nurses Day and wishing everyone the health, safety, and success in their national duties, which are highly valued by the leadership and society at large.
