HE Dr. Mohammed Salim Al Olama, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, and Prevention (MoHAP), emphasized that International Nurses Day is an opportunity to showcase the remarkable and ongoing progress made by the UAE in the development and governance of the nursing profession.
In a statement marking International Nurses Day 2023, which is celebrated on May 12 each year, Al Olama underscored the strategic importance of the nursing profession and the crucial role nurses play in healthcare systems.
He stressed that the UAE’s wise leadership pays utmost attention to supporting the nursing profession and its practitioners, who consistently answer the call of humanitarian, professional, and national duty with unwavering commitment and sincerity in every situation.
"The UAE is committed to enhancing the quality of this noble profession, which is the driving force behind leading the country’s march towards excellence and sustainability in healthcare services, in line with the "National Strategy for Nursing and Midwifery 2026." Al Olama said.
He added: "The Ministry of Health and Prevention takes immense pride in the dedication and efforts of the country's nursing staff. We are committed to continuously elevating the already distinguished position of our nursing professionals in terms of organization, performance, and expertise. Our focus will continue to be on ensuring safe professional practices and providing a decent quality of life for our nurses in line with international best practices.
“From strengthening governance frameworks and legislation to promoting innovative education and practice procedures, the ministry will make every possible effort to foster continuous professional development for the sustainability of nursing cadres in order to serve our citizens in the best way possible, in line with the National Strategy for Nursing and Midwifery 2026 and Emiratisation policies." Al Olama noted.
