Statements by MoHAP’s Leaders on the International Day for Tolerance

His Excellency Abdul Rahman bin Mohammad Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention and Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs, highlighted that tolerance is a noble human value embraced by the UAE since its establishment as a foundation for all thestrategies of the Union, becoming an exceptional role model of co-existence and noble human values as well as a beacon of the culture of tolerance.

 He said the UAE, which follows the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the founding fathers of the nation, inspired by a success story based on tolerance and pluralism, looking towards new milestones and landmark achievements on its journey of the next 50 years. The UE is keen to share its experience as a leading country to cement the values of openness to other cultures and peoples, thereby consolidating its position as a global capital of tolerance and societal and human harmony.

H.E Al Owais made these remarks on the International Day for Tolerance celebrated annually on November 16.

On this occasion, H.E Al Owais said: The UAE’s success in achieving a unique experience in tolerance and coexistence between different nationalities and religions, which constitute the cohesive social fabric in the country, represents an important part of its cultural attractions, and a value deeply rooted in the UAE society.

Tolerance is one of the most important characteristics of the country, making it a role model in inter-faith tolerance and coexistence between different cultures, through which the UAE presents an ethical project that establishes itself as a global destination for tolerance and coexistence, the minister stressed.

“The UAE President, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is an inspirational leader who strongly supports tolerance and openness as well as preserving human dignity and fraternity. His Highness’s philanthropic initiatives have touched the lives of millions of people around the world, following in the footsteps of his father, the late Sheikh Zayed, becoming at the focus of the world's attention in recognition of the humanitarian role he plays locally, regionally, and globally, highlighting the UAE's position as a leading model of tolerance, goodness, and human fraternity,” H.E Al Owais added.

HE Dr. Mohammed Salim Al Olama, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP), stressed that the UAE stands out for its tolerance, openness, and respect for other cultures and religions. "These values are deeply rooted in the Emirati society and are derived from the tolerant teachings of Islam. They have always been upheld by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, representing the veracity of our past and the majesty of our identity”.

Speaking on the occasion of the International Day for Tolerance, which is observed on November 16 of every year, Al Olama said that the UAE government is making every possible effort to turn the country into a leading incubator for tolerance and coexistence and a major supporter of international efforts being made to promote tolerance and cultural pluralism.

Al Olama emphasized that the UAE leadership has successfully transformed the values of tolerance and respect for diversity into a sustainable institutional culture that fosters coexistence among all nationalities residing in the UAE within an environment suffused by harmony and innovation. This has positively reflected on boosting the productivity of the government and private sectors in all fields, including health.

Through its initiatives and plans, the Ministry of Health and Prevention strives to promote tolerance values among its employees and customers, who serve as active partners in conveying the message of tolerance to all members of society, Al Olama said, adding that it’s everyone’s responsibility in the UAE to entrench human values so that we can together build a happy and prosperous society.

"We as Emiratis are happy to coexist peacefully with all residents as one family. We are really having a wonderful and one-of-a-kind experience in cohabitation, humanism, and tolerance, one of the finest regionally and worldwide. We are truly proud of the UAE’s cultural diversity. It enriches the living experience in the country and makes it all the more extraordinary,” Al Olama said.
