Ministry of Health and Prevention organizes a seminar on women's heart health

To meet the requirements of the National Cardiovascular Disease Index, the Ministry of Health and Prevention organized a seminar on women's heart health titled ‘Oxygen Plus for your Heart.’ Dr. Muna Al-Kuwari, Director of the Specialized Care Department, and Vice Chair of the Executive committee on Cardiovascular Index attended the seminar along with representatives from Dubai Media Incorporated, the Ministry of Education, the UAE University, and the National Ambulance.

The seminar was led by the renowned journalist Amal Mohammed and highlighted the important role of physical activity in increasing the flow of oxygen to the heart coupled with maintaining a good psychological disposition and a healthy lifestyle to have a healthy heart. The discussion also looked into the role of women in providing preventive medical care, therapeutic support, and first aid during emergency situations. 

Dr. Al-Kuwari said holding the seminar was aligned with the Ministry’s efforts to ensure that citizens and residents receive comprehensive and quality health care services in accordance with international standards. The seminar also bolstered the Ministry’s initiatives seeking to reduce the mortality rate of cardiovascular diseases in the country as well as raise community awareness on heart disease prevention in women by encouraging them to make positive lifestyle changes. 

Dr. Buthaina Balila capitalized upon ways to promote women's, healthy heart; Dr. Osama Kamel Al Lala, the Physical Activity Consultant at the Ministry of Education, presented a practical healthy lifestyle program for women; Dr. Suad Al Marzouki, Assistant Dean for Professional Development at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of the UAE, underscored the role of women in implementing a lifestyle change in their families; and Dr. Sara Al Balushi from the National Ambulance performed hands-on interventions in the case of cardiac emergencies. Grade 10 student Alia Al-Janahi, a member of the “Heart Experts” program at Al Mawakeb School, shared her insights on how to introduce programs in schools that promote practices for keeping a healthy heart.
