UAE named host country of International Conference on Otorhinolaryngology ENT 2023

In yet another feather added to the country’s glittering cap, the UAE has been selected as the host country for the International Conference on Otorhinolaryngology ENT from January 17 to 21, 2023 by the International Federation of ORL Societies.

The new achievement highlights the UAE’s prominent position, remarkable leadership and excellence as well as the international confidence in its capabilities to host international conferences.

The International Federation of ORL Societies has also elected HE Dr. Hussain Abdul Rahman Al Rand, Assistant Undersecretary for the Public Health Sector at the Ministry of Health and Prevention, President - Emirates ORL Head and Neck Society, as Vice President of the International Federation, becoming the first Emirati to hold such an international position.

Successful Conclusion

This was announced at the conclusion of the 11th Congress of Pan ArabFOS Otolaryngology, Audiology and Communication Disorders, and 12th Emirates Otorhinolaryngology, Audiology, Swallowing and Communication Disorders Congress. As part of these major events, two workshops were held on plastic and functional nose surgery, and another on snoring and apnea, at the Mohammed bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences in Dubai.

The Ministry of Health and Prevention chaired the two-day conferences from January 12 to 14 where a number of senior officials and leaders of the health sector in the UAE, president of Gulf medical societies and experts from countries around the world took part along with more than 1,500 people from ear, nose, throat and allergy specialists, head and neck surgery, pediatric otolaryngologist, sleep apnea, facial and nose surgery, communication and swallowing specialists, research specialists and young ENT physicians.

Great responsibilities

Dr Al Rand extended his deep thanks and appreciation to the International Federation of ORL Societies for selecting the UAE as the host country for the International Conference on Otorhinolaryngology ENT and for electing him as Vice President of the International Federation.

 “On this occasion, I am honoured to extend my deep thanks and gratitude to our wise leadership, which provided us with all capabilities and resources to upgrade the country’s health system, develop the skills and expertise of the Emirati health cadres, something which made us well-positioned to occupy high ranks and assume great responsibilities at the local, regional and global levels.

He stressed that he will do every possible effort to represent the UAE in the best way possible to further promote the country's prestigious global position.
