H.E Abdulrahman bin Mohamed Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention, Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs, stressed that the declaration of July 18 as "Union Pledge Day" by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan is an event of great national significance, immortalizing a key moment in UAE history.
“This date commemorates the unified determination of the late founder Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the rulers of the Emirates to sign the declaration of the Union and the UAE Constitution while announcing the official name of the United Arab Emirates.
Strengthening union values
He highlighted that this historic day marks a pivotal moment in our nation’s memory, laying the foundation for the Union's inception and becoming a milestone in UAE history. His Excellency noted that the President's directive to honour this significant day showcases the leadership's wisdom and its commitment to instil the values of the Union across generations, strengthen national unity, deepen the sense of pride and belonging among the Emirati people, and reaffirm the commitment to ongoing development and progress towards a flourishing future under the Union's banner.
Two key milestones
H.E Al Owais emphasized that both Union Pledge Day and Union Day on December 2 are key milestones in the UAE national calendar. Together, they represent the UAE's success story, from the moment of establishment to the moment of launch, highlighting the importance of planning and hard work within a forward-looking vision in achieving major accomplishments towards consolidating the pillars of the country and sustaining achievements in line with the UAE Centennial 2071.
