The Ministry of Health and Prevention is continuing its relentless efforts in stepping up and expanding COVID-19 testing campaigns nationwide, in order to detect the infected cases in early stages and to trace their close contacts.
This comes as part of the precautionary and preventive measures adopted by the UAE Government to fight COVID-19 and to strengthen the efficiency and efficacy of the UAE’s health system in line with the directives of the wise leadership in terms of harnessing all the potential to maintain the health of the people.
In this context, the Sharjah Medical District has announced that the roll out of the second stage of the COVID-19 screening program dedicated to Sharjah Government employees who are expected to go back work. The program includes three-day tests for 1700 employees from Sharjah Municipality, as well as 500 vendors from Souq Al Jubail.
The first stage of the program, which is being implemented in cooperation with the Sharjah government and the Sharjah Committee for Emergency, Crisis, and Disaster Management, included home testing for 28 senior citizens and 19 of their sitters to ensure their safety, as well as to provide the best levels of health care to protect the health of the people and to enhance the safety of individuals and to contain the pandemic.
Advanced screening centers
Mohammed Abdullah Al-Zarouni, Director of Sharjah Medical District, pointed to the stringent measures taken by MoHAP to curb the spread of COVID-19 pandemic by intensifying the screening campaign across Sharjah to detect the COVID-19 cases in early stages and to identify their contacts, highlighting state-of-the-art technology devices used in the screening center. This reflects the robustness of the country’s health system, thanks to the unlimited support of the wise leadership and its keenness to provide the highest levels of healthcare services for both citizens and residents and visitors as well.
Work 24/7
He added: “As per MoHAP’s directives, Sharjah Medical District has formed a medical team dedicated to the epidemiological investigation of infected cases and their contacts and the conduction of a survey to classify cases and coordinate isolation or quarantine for them. In addition, Kuwait Hospital and Khorfakkan Hospital have been allocated for Covid-19 patients, in addition to the coordination with the private hospitals in the emirate to follow up on cases and ensure the stability of their health status.”
Four primary health care centers (Wasit, Dhaid, Al Lulueyah, and Family Health Promotion Center) have been selected to receive COVID-19 emergency cases around the clock.
This in addition to allocating health centers to follow up with contacts and conduct the necessary checks. And two teams have been formed from preventive medicine and primary health care to receive the COVID-19 cases from government and private institutions while intensifying awareness-raising campaigns for visitors and employees working in primary health centers and hospitals in the emirate to prevent infection and maintain their safety.
