Ministry of Health organizes workshop on quality of life at workplace

In line with the National Strategy for Wellbeing 2031, the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) organized a workshop entitled "Quality of Life at the Workplace", which is also in keeping with the ministry’s program to enhance the quality of physical, psychological and social life at the workplace.

The workshop aims to instill a culture of well-being, build the participants’ capacities and help them embrace a healthy lifestyle during and after working hours.

The session touched on the concepts, practices and models of healthy, safe and physically stimulating life at the workplace. It also provided a number of ideas that help the participants apply practical models to enhance the quality of life at the workplace and to create innovative solutions to the challenges they face, enabling them to enhance productivity and performance.

Presented by Nouf Aljenibi, Director of Emirates Center for Happiness Research, United Arab Emirates University, amid broad participation from MoHAP employees, the

workshop dealt with the general concept of quality of life in the work environment, the importance of studying the quality-of-life model, and how to deal with it.

It also highlighted how the employee can handle the pressures and challenges of work. Nouf Aljenibi gave a presentation on the applications of quality of life and their importance in enhancing performance levels and developing human resources management.

Well-being Program

"MoHAP pays much attention to the quality of life of its employees. With that in mind, the ministry has developed an integrated program to enhance the quality of life at the workplace, according to the Guide to Happiness & Well-being at Workplace and the international best practices," said HE Dr. Hussein Al Rand, Assistant Undersecretary for the Public Health Sector. "The program also seeks to help employees improve their lifestyles and create a healthy and safe work environment that stimulates happiness and positive work.

Al Rand underlined that happiness and well-being at the workplace is an essential pillar to achieve happiness and well-being for the individual and society at large.

The program consists of an ecosystem of six elements centered on the employee, including space, work system, internal and institutional environment, external work environment, and overall life environment.

The program also includes activities and initiatives to enhance multi-level institutional work to create an institutional culture focusing on physical and psychological health and positive healthy behavior of employees.

Awareness and educational materials on workplaces were presented during the workshop to encourage innovation and creative thinking and deepen job affiliation, which is a priority for the Ministry, to improve performance, productivity levels and efficiency.

Al Rand stated that human cadres are the basic wealth and vital energy that supports the development of work, noting that the workshop is part of MoHAP's commitment to supporting the objectives of the National Strategy for Well-being 2031, which seeks to create positive, harmonious environments for work, while supporting interdependence and enabling individuals to grow and develop.

Scientific tools and applications

HE Abdullah Ahmed Ahli, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for the Support Services Sector, pointed to the importance of the workshop, which included a set of tools and practical applications based on scientific foundations, to achieve the highest levels of quality of life in the work environment and to achieve the balance between professional and social life.

He affirmed that the ministry takes all the measures to provide support to its employees, review their needs, launch initiatives and programs for psychological well-being and

 quality of life to empower them, build their capacities, develop their skills, and provide opportunities to discover and develop their potentials.

Our support for our employees is in recognition of their tremendous efforts to provide world-class, comprehensive and integrated health services, he noted.

The participants praised the importance of the workshop, which provided rich information on practices and tools that help strengthen concepts and practices of quality of life in the workplace enable them to understand the applied models of quality of life in a work environment.

They lauded the interactive method of training, which helped enhance their capacities to apply these models in a practical way.
