Ministry of Health & Prevention continues to provide the periodic examination of chronic diseases & early detection of cancer

Under the Ministry of Health and Prevention’s (MOHAP) strategy to spread awareness about health risks and provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to the best of global standards, the Ministry continues to provide early detection services for cancer and periodic examination of chronic diseases.  

The strategy’s focus on spreading awareness, education, and provision of necessary information about the importance of the early detection of cancer, along with prevention methods. In addition to disseminating awareness on causes of cancer, the importance of early detection, discovery, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of service providers. It also aims to identify the service outlets in all UAE hospitals and medical centers that provide medical tests and necessary treatment to all citizens and resident women.

The initiative also spreads awareness on the importance of the overall periodic examinations in providing specialized services to promote a healthy lifestyle and detecting risk factors causing cardiovascular diseases, obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes, fat rate and the health risks associated with cardiovascular diseases. 

H.E. Dr. Hussein Abdel-Rahman Al Rand, Assistant Undersecretary for Health Clinics and Centers, emphasized on the importance of this kind of services provided by the Ministry, to ensure a culture of prevention, which is key to maintaining better health by avoiding the most common pathogens, especially cancer, heart disease, diabetes and others.

He added: “We aim to raise awareness on the importance of early detection in improving the chances of recovery and the preparation and implementation of joint awareness programs and activities. In addition, we also encourage healthy diet and exercise among all society segments, and the activation of national programs to combat cancer as a shared responsibility between government and private sectors. This comes under the Ministry's strategy to provide comprehensive and integrated health care in innovative and sustainable ways to ensure community prevention of disease.”

H.E also pointed out the Ministry’s keenness to train professionals working in the field of early detection of cancer, providing them with accurate information about the disease and the mechanisms used in early screening programs. The initiative also aims to support partnership and cooperation between all governmental and non-governmental health bodies to support the Ministry's efforts to combat cancer and reduce prevalence of noncommunicable diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, cholesterol and cardiovascular diseases, through early detection and awareness on the factors leading to them and by providing members of the community with health information needed to change the lifestyle and methods of health and prevention.
