This comes in line with the National Innovation Strategy, which forms a guiding light towards establishing innovation incubators and laboratories, utilizing digital technology, artificial intelligence and “blockchain” technology, in addition to developing research centres and striking effective partnerships locally and globally,” Al Hemeiri said.
Innovation week projects
Be Bold-Tatmeen
“Be Bold” is the first innovative project launched by the ministry in tandem with the innovation week. The programme aims to build the capacities of change-makers and innovative thinkers in order to be able to design and foresee the future, by developing programmes and policies that will affect the future healthcare sector.
In addition, the ministry has also showcased six innovative projects, including the “Tatmeen” platform, which aims to track and trace the different stages of drug manufacturing. The platform is the first of its kind in the region and was developed to enhance the ministry’s role in monitoring the quality and safety of drugs and protecting the health and safety of patients and the wider society.
GS1 Barcoding of Medicines - Post Office initiative
The second of the innovative projects showcased is the GS1 Barcoding of Medicines, a barcoding system that allows for tracking the supply and distribution of medicines by unifying the coding and sequencing mechanisms for drug tracking, and standardizing policies, compliance mechanisms and standards.
The ministry also shed light on the Post Office initiative, a project to manage and track central information related to electronic insurance claims, thus raising the level of health services and saving costs related to health care in the UAE. The project will help provide a central database for analyzing data related to insurance claims.
WhatsApp Birth Certificate & Shared browsing
Other projects showcased include the ministry’s WhatsApp service to proactively issue birth certificates, using artificial intelligence techniques, as well as the virtual assistant service to respond to customer inquiries, and the shared browsing system, a new innovative way to support customers. The project allows the customer support team to see the customer’s screen, guide and direct them through the required services, fill out forms on their behalf and support them in real time, in order to better performance, sow the seeds of innovation and ensure the happiness of customers.
