The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) is showcasing at the Arab Health 2022 the latest developments and advantages of the ‘Riayati' platform, which represents the national unified medical record in partnership with other local health authorities.

About 207 health facilities joined the ‘Riayati' platform so far. This number is projected to increase continuously with more healthcare facilities being added.

Through this partnership, which constitutes a significant milestone in the journey of health sector achievements, the Riayati platform will be reinforced through its linkage to the "Wareed platform"- the Electronic Medical Record of the EHS in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, and the "Nabidh Platform", the DHA's health information network.

Coordination is underway with the Abu Dhabi Department of Health to link and exchange information between ‘Riayati' and ''Malaffi' platform, MENA's first innovative platform for exchanging health information.

 Digital health system

‘Riayati' is an advanced system for documenting health information and data for each recipient of health services in a special file. This is done in a sustainable and secure manner to achieve the safety and quality of health care, facilitate the use of such information by health service providers and regulate its exchange in accordance with the country's legislation. This comes in the framework of an integrated health system based on the advanced infrastructure and world-class competencies of the health sector and the utilization of innovation and digital transformation.

‘Riayati' platform, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, aims to provide a central health database for citizens and residents, deliver advanced healthcare services, provide data analysis and future planning for health services, based on the unification of standards and procedures used in dealing with the health record, while maintaining confidentiality in the transfer of information and improving the ability to early detection of diseases.

Utilizing innovation

"We continue working, under the directives and ambitious vision of the wise leadership, and in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, to lay the important foundations for building a unified electronic health care system for patients across the country, by taking advantage of the advanced infrastructure, utilizing innovation and moving forward in the process of digital transformation," said HE Dr. Jamal Mohammed Al Kaabi, Undersecretary of DoH.

This would help secure world-class healthcare services and enhance the quality and outcomes of treatment, thus cementing the UAE's position in healthcare globally, he added.

Solid base

"The 'Riayati' platform is inspiring success story among government agencies within the digital transformation of healthcare led by the UAE government, to achieve integration and harmony between government capabilities," said HE Abdullah Ahli, the Acting Assistant Undersecretary for the Support Services Sector. "This partnership is a solid foundation for the future of digital health, while the 'Riayati' platform is part of the ministry's efforts to keep up with the transformations in health information systems. It's also an affirmation of the UAE's leadership in embracing innovations and technology and represents an advanced step that takes the health care sector in the direction of creating an integrated health file for each patient in the UAE.

Central digital platform

Ali Al-Ajmi, Director of the Smart Health Department, said 'Riayati' is a central digital platform for exchanging health information through an integrated and sustainable smart system that aims to improve the quality of medical services and the efficiency of care providers and patient safety, as well as enhance the capabilities of population health management, through the secure exchange of patient records between care providers in the country.

This ensures an accessible unified individual electronic record containing complete medical information for each patient, regardless of where he/she received treatment, which contributes to strengthening and empowering the health care sector in the UAE.

Dr. Muhammad Abdul Qadir Al Redha, Director of the Informatics and Smart Health Department, DHA, said that linking 'Nabidh' with 'Riayati' is an important step towards delivering distinguished health services, in a way that serves the common interests of all beneficiaries of these systems.

Al Redha affirmed that this system would shape the future of health services in the UAE, in line with the country's orientations towards central services with smart solutions.

This system will make Dubai in particular, and the UAE in general, a major destination with competitive standards in the field of collecting and analyzing relevant health data, he noted.
