Dr. Sumaya Al Blooshi, Head of the National Committee for Nursing and Midwifery, emphasised that the Arab Nurses and Midwives Day, celebrated annually on November 3, is an important occasion to recognise the efforts and achievements of nurses and midwives in the healthcare sector in the UAE and across the Arab world.

National competencies

Dr. Al Blooshi highlighted that the UAE is a global leader in health services, with the National Strategy for Nursing and Midwifery 2022-2026" playing a fundamental role in enhancing the country's competitiveness in this vital sector.

“This strategy aims not only to develop regulatory policies and standards for nursing and midwifery, ensuring their sustainability and fostering innovation, but also to build effective partnerships, encourage Emiratis to join these professions, and showcase the capabilities of national leaders in nursing and midwifery to plan and implement health strategies in the UAE.”

Utilising Advanced Technologies

Dr. Al Blooshi further said that the National Committee for Nursing and Midwifery is committed to training and qualifying nursing staff in medical information technology, empowering them to utilise artificial intelligence and advanced technologies.

Efforts are also being made to improve academic programs for general and specialised nursing and midwifery in collaboration with partners, experts, and international institutions. She added that these initiatives would significantly strengthen the UAE's position as a leading model for healthcare system development at both the Arab and international levels.
