Dr. Sumaya Mohamed AlBlooshi, Head of the National Committee for Nursing and Midwifery Affairs at the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) emphasized that the ministry is committed to improving the quality of nursing care services in the UAE, with additional focus on midwifery care.
"This is a crucial aspect of the National Strategy for Nursing and Midwifery (2022-2026). MoHAP is constantly working on developing professional regulatory policies and standards for midwifery practice, as well as improving general and specialized midwifery academic programs, in collaboration with partners, experts, and institutions worldwide," AlBlooshi said.
Speaking on the International Day of the Midwife 2023, Dr. Sumaya reiterated that the National Committee will spare no effort to support who are providing maternity care services in collaboration with specialized medical team and performing natural deliveries for pregnancies in accordance with best practices and international standards, thus positively impacting many indicators along with the mother and child care services according to the World Health Organization and International Confederation of Midwives.
Dr. AlBlooshi expressed her gratitude to all midwives in the UAE for their unwavering commitment and hard work. She also emphasized on the role of young midwifery students, who are considered as an essential addition to the advancement of this profession, to participate in achieving the pioneer position in line with the national priorities for women's, children’s, and reproductive health in general.
