MoHAP Undersecretary visits Dibba Hospital

All hospitals in the UAE that have applied to obtain the international accreditation from recognised medical bodies are moving in the right direction, said H.E. Dr. Mohammad Salim Al Olama, Undersecretary for the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP).

The ministry will make every possible effort to support those hospitals and help them obtain the accreditation, Al Olama added.

Dr. Mohammad Al Olama made these remarks while visiting Dibba Al Fujairah Hospital, accompanied by Dr. Yousif Mohammed Al Serkal, Assistant Under-Secretary for the Hospital Sector at MoHAP, where they were received by Director of Fujairah Medical Zone, Dr Mohammed Abdullah, and Obaid Khalfan Al Khadim, Director of Dibba Hospital.

“We are moving forward based on a clear road-map “The unified national standards for hospitals in the UAE”, which was approved by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to adopt the highest quality health standards, and best practices in terms of the efficiency and smartness of health services, patient safety, healthcare providers and health information systems, HE Al Olama added.

He noted that his regular visits to health facilities aim to ensure the provision of quality health services and meet the growing needs of customers and patients, as part of the ministry’s strategy to deliver comprehensive and integrated healthcare services beyond expectations.

Turn Challenges into opportunities 

Al Olama added that his inspection visits also aim to monitor the quality of services and support the ministry’s four sectors in the medical zones. We always seek to develop performance indicators in various health facilities by considering their recommendations, especially on challenges facing our services.

"We are striving to transform those challenges into opportunities that we can be utilized to support our projects and satisfy the needs of patients and customers  through working based on a proactive strategy  for future services” he further said.

H.E. Al Olama lauded the relentless efforts being made by Dibba Hospital’s staff, stressing the ministry’s keenness to provide all resources that help the hospital get the international accreditation over the course of the upcoming year. 

During his visit, he also met a number of visitors and staff at the hospital and instructed the concerned department to continue regular maintenance works at some sections. 

He further stressed the importance of having the latest medical equipment; in addition to improving the conditions of some employees according to the human resources system to achieve staff satisfaction and job loyalty and to stimulate employees deliver quality services that ensure the happiness of patients and customers.

49 MoHAP facilities with international accreditation 

Dr. Yousif Al Serkal highlighted the ministry’s persistent efforts to help all hospitals obtain the international accreditation by 2021, in line with the wise government directives. To that end, we are introducing a number of improvements and adopting the highest international standards as followed by prestigious health facilities all around the world.

With more than 49 health facilities have already got the international accreditation, the ministry has become the world’s fastest body in terms of getting such  accreditations in 4 years only. This further supports the UAE position as the world’s first country in terms of health facilities obtaining the international accreditation with more than 210 health facilities and hospitals throughout the UAE, Al Serkal said.

He praised the hospital management for implementing the minsitry’s first project to develop state-of-the-art operation rooms, according to system and requirements of The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The project, which aims to ensure maximum safety for patients, was developed by three female Emirati engineers from the Department of Engineering and Maintenance services in the hospital to apply the best standards and specifications of the modern operation rooms.
