As part of its commitment to engaging young people in the design project for the UAE’s next fifty-year, the Ministry of Health and Prevention, MoHAP, organized a virtual session with university students and youth councils, in the presence of His Excellency Abdul Rahman bin Mohammed Al-Owais, the Minister of Health and HE Dr. Amin Hussein Al Amiri, the Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health and Prevention’s Public Health Policy and Licenses, Chairman of the 50-year preparation plan, the health path.
The step comes in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai to launch the largest community design project to develop the next stage of the nation's holistic development process for the next 50 years.
The session touched on several important topics of interest to the youth in the health path, including consolidating healthy behaviors in society, strengthening preventive and treatment systems based on smart health services, transforming to a personal health care model based on the Fourth Industrial Revolution technology to achieve the UAE leadership in the health field.
Productive interaction
In his remarks, Abdul Rahman bin Mohammed Al-Owais said: “The session was productive and rich in creative and innovative ideas with strong interaction from the participants about their aspirations and visions for the future of the country, something that proves that they are trustworthy and can shoulder the responsibility to harvest the results of country’s investment in youth energies and talents.
Al-Owais referred to the capabilities the UAE has provided to young people in research, training, and development fields to effectively participate in the community design for shaping the next fifty years in the UAE.
Constructive proposals
The session saw a number of constructive proposals and ideas by the university and school students to develop the UAE’s healthcare system, where Asmaa Muhammad, a student at the College of Medicine at the University of Sharjah, presented a proposal on a smart application for a virtual hospital and the integration of government hospitals into a single program, through the in-app medical record of patients without the need to visit the hospital every time.
Since the excessive use of antibiotics makes bacteria resistant to antibiotics, Arwa Dhiab, a student at Zayed University, presented a proposal to increase control over the dispensing of antibiotics in pharmacies. She suggested that antibiotics should be produced in injection form rather than the current form of capsules, while Rawda Badr Al Naqbi, a student at Al-Jahiz School, suggested the need to strengthen the role of robots in the future of health services.
Thanking the students for their active participation in the community design project for the next 50 years, Al-Owais referred to the importance of the proposals and ideas submitted, urging the students to step up their efforts and to develop their capabilities and skills to bolster the UAE’s sustainable development process, while maintaining the country’s achievements and gains.
