Ministry of Health and Prevention Organizes Open Meeting with its Affiliated Private Healthcare Facilities

The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) organized an open meeting with MoHAP’s private health facilities. The meeting aims to showcase the goals and outcomes of the national indicator of the internationally accredited hospitals and the national indicator of medical malpractice cases for 10,000 of in – patient treated cases.

The meeting was attended by H.E Dr. Amin Hussein Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health Policy and Licensing and Abeer Adel, Director of Regulation and Licensing and Advertisement Department. 

This event aims at bolstering partnership with the private health facilities, introducing MoHAP’s future plans and promoting the health services level to enhance the positive competition among private health facilities. This will help improve the healthcare services efficiency, so as to achieve the aspirations of the people and strengthen their confidence in MoHAP’s programmes and initiatives.

The meeting witnessed the honoring of hospitals which obtained a certificate of accreditation, honoring the heads of Assessment Test Committees for healthcare practitioners and complementary medicine specialists, as well as honoring those who took part in developing health legislations including healthcare authorities and concerned government and private authorities.

The National Indicator of the Internationally Accredited Hospitals 

In this context, Abeer Adel , Director of Regulation and Licensing Department, pointed out that this national indicator helps improve the quality of the services provided for patients.

“That could be done through the provision of important health standard for the directors and clinical doctors so that they can take their decisions. Also, this matter contributes to improving the accountability and regulation before the legal, professional authorities and the society in general, in addition to regulating the health facilities’ manners to safeguard patients’ interests,” said Abdul Ghani.

In light of the increasing community awareness to choose the treatment in trusted and accredited health institutions, patients are considered the first to benefit from the international accreditation. 

On the other hand, the private healthcare facilities have managed to boost the international confidence in terms of their performance efficiency, reducing the side effects and complications, exposure to infection, medical malpractice and cutting expenditures.

Further to that, the implementation of quality systems, performance improvement and adherence to global standards helped in raising the rank of healthcare facilities. This also helps create competition among those facilities to deliver the best services.

The National Indicator of Malpractice Rates for 10,000 of Recovered Cases

This indicator measures the confirmed rates of medical malpractice cases that led to death or morbidity due to negligence. From every 10,000 in-patient treated cases .In this context, the medical committees of the healthcare facilities and the Higher Committee for Medical Liability are responsible for proving the medical malpractice.
