The Ministry of Health and Prevention, MoHAP, has recently signed an agreement with First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) to establish a secure automatic payment system online, using smart prepaid cards that can be loaded with several different currencies.
The agreement aims to provide cash liquidity to Emirati patients and their escorts who are seeking medical treatment abroad in the countries where the treatment service is provided.
The agreement was signed at MoHAP headquarters by HE Awad Saghir Al Ketbi, Assistant Undersecretary of the Support Services Sector, and Hana Al Rostamani, Group Head of Personal Banking Group, FAB.
Patient-Centered Strategic Partnerships
“This agreement comes as part of MoHAP’s constant endeavors to streamline procedures for Emirati patients who are receiving their treatment abroad as one of the treatment options provided by the ministry to patients with incurable diseases. This is part of our strategy to enhance community health by providing comprehensive, innovative and fair patient-centric health services as per international standards,” said HE Awad Saghir Al Ketbi.
He added: “MoHAP is always keen to establish strategic partnerships with the private sector, something which reflects the integration between the various sectors of the country within the joint efforts to expand the areas of community support in the healthcare domain. The agreement would ease financial transactions for Emirati patients and their escorts in a safe manner, to ensure their safety in the countries where they receive treatment.”
Outstanding Care for Patients Abroad
HE Nasser Khalifa Al-Badour, Assistant Undersecretary, Director of the Department of Treatment Abroad Department, explained that MoHAP adopts accredited standards and controls to provide advanced treatment services for Emirati patients abroad, in cooperation with international medical institutions and centers, pointing out that there are 6 MoHAP’s health attachés abroad are playing a pre-eminent role in selecting the most efficient hospitals and medical centers.
The treatment abroad services are mainly targeting patients with cancer, heart, spine, neurosurgery, and orthopedics.
Commending MoHAP’s effective role in providing outstanding health services, Hana Al Rostamani said: “This agreement falls in line with FAB’s commitment to provide innovative banking solutions in communities where we operate. This is a very important initiative for those seeking medical treatment abroad, underlining FAB’s strong support for government health services, which are aimed at enhancing the quality of life of Emirati patients.”
