The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) recently organized a workshop on emergency response and crisis management. The workshop was held in coordination with the Emirates Foundation “Sanid”, with the participation of employees from all medical districts.
The event comes within the context of the regular updating of the plans and programs for strengthening the readiness and flexibility of MoHAP’s facilities in terms of confronting various risks, developing the efficiency and effectiveness of the key processes in the management of emergencies, crises and disasters, and raising the awareness of MoHAP staff upon dealing with crises and emergencies.
The three-day workshop aimed at qualifying the employees on the readiness and preparedness for emergency cases and safety enhancement, deploying certified volunteers to respond to emergencies if required, launching safety awareness campaigns, responding to international crises and disasters, and bolstering the emergency response organizations.
Enhancing Capabilities and Reinforcing the Efficiency of MoHAP Personnel
Dr. Abdul Karim Abdullah Al Zarouni, Director of MoHAP’s Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Operations Center, said: “The workshop comes as part of fostering the capabilities and reinforcing the efficiency of MoHAP Personnel in terms of the appropriate response to possible emergencies and crises. It also aims at rehabilitating trained volunteers to manage field response operations and to organize the mechanism of mobilizing these operations during emergencies, through collecting and analyzing data to assess the damages and to lead the intervention teams to work, as well as to coordinate and exchange information with leadership and to deal with media outlets.”
Coordination with Sanid
Al Zarouni hailed the Sanid’s efforts as a unique model in the UAE in terms of enhancing the readiness of the country to respond to emergencies, through a training model in accordance with the international best practices and standards (Swedish Civil Defense Board, CERT Program) and in line with the needs, circumstances and culture of the UAE.
He pointed out that the next workshop will be held in October for 4 days, and it will be dedicated to MoHAP’s evacuation team for security and safety.
