About the Service

This service is optional for travelers visiting the country, and is available for residents of the country, in order to obtain approval to import or carry narcotic medicine and psychotropic (controlled medicine) for personal use.

Service Process

    To apply for e-services, create an account on MOHAP website or smart app with a username and password.

  • 2
    Fill in the data, attach the required documents and complete them to obtain approval.

  • 3
    If the conditions are met, the permit will be issued through the MOHAP e-system or smart app.

Conditions & Requirements

  1. For residents of the country who are above the legal age: The application must be submitted through the electronic system to obtain the approval.

  2. For residents of the country who are under the legal age: The guardian shall submit through the electronic system.

  3. For travelers: This service is optional for travelers visiting the country who wish to obtain electronic approvals, as it is allowed for those coming to the country to take narcotic medicine and psychotropics (controlled medications) with them within the limits of a quantity that does not exceed the patient's need for a maximum period of three months.

FAQ’s

  1. The service is available for narcotic, controlled and semi-controlled drugs and is not mandatory for other drugs.
  2. The requirement is a medical report issued not more than one year by the health facility in which the patient is treated, authenticated by the health authority in the country in which the treatment is received, or the country's embassy therein, or by any accredited authentication body in that country.
  3. The requirement is a copy of the medical prescription with the patient name that issued not more than three months, provided that it includes the patient’s name, the name of the trade & generic name, dosage form, prescribed dose, the date of issuing the prescription, the duration of treatment, the doctor’s name and stamp and the stamp of the treatment authority. It must be authenticated by the health authority in the country in which he received treatment, or from the embassy of the country therein, or from any authority approved for documentation in that country.
  4. Please apply via MOHAP Electronic system or through the Smart App.
  5. Two months.
  6. The Permit is for single use only.

Required Documents
  • For residents:

    • A copy of the medical prescription with the name of the patient, issued no more than three months ago from the unified electronic platform.

    • An authenticated medical report from the health facility in which the patient is treated, within the country.

    • A copy of the Emirates ID or passport.

  • For Travelers:

    • A medical report issued not more than one year by the health facility in which the patient is treated, authenticated by the health authority in the country in which the treatment is received, or the country's embassy therein, or by any accredited authentication body in that country.

    • A copy of the prescription in the name of the patient, issued not more than three months, provided that it includes the patient's full name, the scientific and/or commercial drug name, the pharmaceutical form, the prescribed dose, the date of issuing the prescription, the duration of treatment, the name of the physician, his/ her seal and the stamp of the treating authority and must be authenticated by the health authority in the country in which the treatment was received, or the country's embassy therein, or by any accredited authentication body in that country.
