Dr. Al Amiri: “The exchange of information between the two ministries is in line with national initiatives to pursue developments within the health sector” 

H.E. Dr. Amin Hussein Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health and Licensing Sector at the UAE Ministry of Health, received a high-level delegation from the Korean Ministry of Health headed by Bay Young John, General Manager of the Korean Ministry of Health in a first-of-its-kind visit between the two ministries. The meeting enhances bilateral relations between both organizations with regards to medical personnel and pharmaceutical services. In addition, it aims to provide support for scientific research and encourage joint studies that can address health developments emerging across the Emirates. It also promotes cooperation and strengthens ties between the two countries in order to maximize Korea’s wealth of human resources which will greatly impact the development of health services within the Emirates. 

H.E. Dr. Al Amiri praised the UAE work environment, adding that the sector attracts internationally qualified medical staff that possesses the necessary skills to meet the country’s demand for a wide range of medical experts. The dynamic health environment also encourages Korean staff and medical experts from various fields to work in the Emirates, after finishing the required evaluation according to the adopted unified procedures across the country.

The Meeting Focused on The Pharmaceutical:

The Assistant Undersecretary said that the Korean delegation is very interested in pursuing pharmaceutical collaboration and mobilizing a joint effort to register the prices of medicine between the two countries. In addition, the partnership will make use of both countries’ knowledge and expertise in pharmacovigilance to combat pharmaceutical fraud and the production of fake medicine.

H.E. Dr. Al Amiri has asserted that the UAE Ministry of Health is eager to strengthen ties with the most developed countries in the health sector as it is in line with efforts to establish a comprehensive and strategic system for medical licenses and pharmacovigilance for the future through the exchange of knowledge and study of international laws and regulations. 

The mechanism of registering pharmaceutical factories between the two countries:

H.E. Dr. Al Amiri added that the meeting also discussed the procedure of registering pharmaceutical factories between the two countries. A UAE delegation will be formed to visit Korean factories and monitor and evaluate work sites and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). The UAE delegation will also examine potential areas of cooperation in order to develop the best procedures and systems to ensure the quality production and testing of medicine.
