The Ministry of Health and Bee’ah, the Middle East’s leading and award winning integrated environmental and waste management company, signed a memorandum of understanding pact to recycle materials that are consumed by the Ministry of Health, damage these materials and dispose them safely. The memorandum of understanding states that the ministry to improve the friendly environment policy and use wastes after their treatment and recycling.

Awadh Seghayer Al Kitbi, Assistant Undersecretary for Supporting Services, stated that the memorandum of understanding enhances the ministry’s efforts in building partnerships between both public and private sectors and its efforts in achieving the objectives and goals of the federal government strategy through joint and common actions based on environmental challenges and integration of efforts.

“The memorandum of understanding aims for achieving the best cultural and environmental results among the society members and officials in support of the appropriate decisions that are for the benefit of the environment”, he elaborated.

Al Kitbi added that the agreement aims for enhancing awareness campaigns to reduce the amount of waste and adopt recycling practices leading to the reduction of environmental pollution; educating the employees of the ministry of health to reduce the production of waste and review the materials that are used at work; evaluating the volume of materials and disposable wastes; supporting the cultural and educational awareness campaigns that are organized by the Ministry of Health and in cooperation of Bee’ah.

It is noted that the Ministry of Health decided to place blue boxes in all departments and sections and medical districts to improve and enhance the strategy of green offices. The boxes will be divided into three sections to classify the disposed wastes and at the same time encourage the employees to maintain a clean environment, reduce wastes and encourage recycling policies adequately.
