Ministry of Health Instructs Practitioners to avoid wearing lab coats outside work place or universities
The Ministry of health plays a pivotal role in curbing the spread of diseases, therefore, in line with its strategy and the public health policy and licensing sector in the Ministry of Health to improve health services in the UAE, it has been noticed, lately that medical practitioners of professionals use their lab coats outside their work location or medical universities. This has become a show phenomenon at public places such as mosques, marketplaces, on TV interviews, conferences and others, the circular said.
International studies proved that the lab coat could be an easy source for transmitting contagious diseases. The samples also show that sleeves and pockets carry contagious germs. Various countries have obliged medical practitioners and students of medical universities to avoid wearing the lab coat outside their place of work or universities to avoid the dissemination of diseases in the medical facilities following the universal precaution standards for infection control.
