The Ministry of Health organized an open discussion at Grand Hyatt Hotel in Dubai lately with the pharmaceutical companies, drugs agencies as well as regional and global pharmaceutical products companies to discuss the mechanism of the new drug import export e-system.

Dr. Amin Hussein Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health and Licensing Sector, reviewed the drug import export e-system which includes the importation and exportation of drugs, medical products and chemical substances that are included in the intervention of drugs industry to be imported by local factories, local, regional and global companies and used for the importation of precursor chemicals.

Dr. Amin Al Amiri, stated that the issued decision regarding the importation or exportation of the e-system coincides with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, UAE Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to improve the services of the Ministry of Health and transform its services to save lots of time, effort and money.

He also assured the necessity of innovation in the importation, exportation of drugs, medical products, chemical substances and precursor chemicals. The Ministry of Health is capable of improving its services to facilitate the work of the medical products importers noting that the first phase of the system consolidates the desire of the UAE government to apply the best international practices in this regard. In the next phase, the system will be connected with the drugs registration and licensing systems in the Ministry of Health.

Dr. Al Amiri emphasized that the system will make it easier for all companies to submit the importation application of drugs, medical equipments and supplies electronically at their work sites without the need to visit the premises of the ministry. The companies can obtain the approval from the drug department at the ministry of health electronically followed by the completion of importation procedures, arrival of shipments to the UAE and goods fast clearance.
