Ministry of Health Revokes Doctor’s License from the medical registry in the UAE
The medical licensing committee in the Ministry of Health revokes the licensing of a doctor from the medical licensing registry in the UAE for fringing medical ethics in the country.
Dr. Amin Hussein Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health Policy and Licensing in the Ministry of Health and Vice Chairman of the medical licensing committee stated that the inspection team discovered during one of their visits to the medical companies the availability of a number of medical prescriptions for depression and psychiatric problems that were prescribed by a urologist specialist.
Dr. Al Amiri emphasized t hat the same doctor had confessed not to do the same practices before and written a previous consent repeated the same action again. As a result, the committee decided to cancel the licensing of the doctor and revoke his name from the medical registry in the UAE based on article no (12) of the federal law no. (7) of 1975 concerning the human medicine. The law states that every licensed doctor must perform his duties according to the profession of medicine with utmost accuracy and honesty and should maintain the oath of the profession.
Dr. Al Amiri added that the Ministry of Health appreciates the role of the private sector in improving the profession and protect the health of the community members. It is also very keen to stipulate laws and legislations for the medical profession and increase the inspection of private medical establishments to ensure their compliance to local and international standards. The ministry undertakes to take the right violations against those who infringe the UAE laws in order to enhance and save the rights of patients and health community.
Dr. Al Amiri assured that such practices encourage both youngsters and adults to take narcotic drugs and the doctor’s action of prescribing random drugs with the right medical justifications or gradual reduction of these drugs may lead to dangerous practices and actions.
It is noted that the ministry of health is very keen to enhance its relationships with its strategic partners and encourages them to monitor such violations that infringe the ethics of human medicine. The ministry has also revoked the registration of 5 doctors during the past five years for similar actions and violations.
