​Ministry places top priority on need to provide the best home healthcare services for the elderly

The Ministry of Health (MoH) successfully organized an interactive workshop that focused on reviewing its strategy on elderly health recently at the Al Bustan Rotana Hotel.  During the sessions, participants discussed the most prominent issues centered on the Ministry’s chief aim of giving the best home healthcare services for the elderly—offering psychological comfort and an atmosphere of reassurance. 

The workshop saw the participation of key spokespersons from the MoH, Dubai Health Authority and the Social Services Department in Sharjah, who have had valuable contributions in meeting the medical needs of the elderly in homes. The session falls in line with the government’s continuing efforts to provide the highest levels of care needed for this social segment, which marks a special place among the leadership and the community.

Dr. Hussein Abdul Rahman Al Rand, Assistant Undersecretary for Centers and Health Clinics, MoH, said that the workshop demonstrates the Ministry's commitment to work in accordance with the directives of the wise leadership to give special attention to elderly people based on the authentic Emirati values and Islamic principles. 

Dr. Hussein also stressed on the ongoing efforts to embrace the elderly and the provision of a health system within international standards that would meet their requirements optimally amid the natural family environment. The Assistant Undersecretary also pointed out that caring for this social segment is a national priority and part of the strategy to achieve the objectives of UAE 2021 Vision. The efforts are aimed towards giving the elderly the means to enjoy a long healthy life and maintain cohesive and prosperous families, further based on solidarity and social consistency.
