Dr. Mohamed Salim Al Olama, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health lauded the efforts of the JCI team in Sharjah Blood Transfusion and Research Center headed by Dr. Amin Hussein Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary for Health Policies and Licensing.

Dr. Al Olama thanked the team of the center for the great efforts in obtaining the JCI from the American Association for Blood Bank (AABB), an association specialized in the safety and quality of blood transfusion and the Joint Commission International (JCI) who did not give any remarks or comments by the observation committee. He also called the members of the team to make great efforts in improving the health services at the ministry.

Dr. Mohamed Salim Al Olama, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, stated that the UAE gave top priority to blood transfusion services and support all the efforts of the other health authorities in this regard. The high rank position of the UAE in the field of blood transfusion and research is a strong expression about the excellence of blood transfusion in the UAE and the role of the ministry of health in supporting the programs of the WHO and encouraging community members on blood volunteering.

Dr. Al Olama emphasized that the selection of Sharjah Blood Transfusion and Research Center by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a referential center in the field of research and training from 2008 till 2016 and hosting the 34th International Conference for the World Blood Transfusion Conference in 2016 which is organized for the first time in the Middle East, assures the UAE’s leading role in competing with three international countries “Italy, France and Denmark”.

Such a competition is the biggest evidence for the excellence of blood transfusion and research in the UAE.

At the end of the visit, Dr. Al Olama thanked the employees of the center reassuring that the ceremony assures the ministry’s appreciation to their efforts in raising the services of the center and its role in achieving excellence in performance, commitment and dedication.
