International Youth Day, observed annually, is dedicated to spotlighting youth issues, amplifying their voices, and honoring the energy, creativity, and leadership young people bring to our world. It underlines the importance of investing in their potential and acknowledging their vital role as partners in building a just, inclusive, and sustainable future.

Date: August 12

Declared by the United Nations, August 12 marks an annual opportunity to recognize young women and men as essential agents of change, while raising awareness on the challenges they face and the opportunities they create.

This year, we celebrate youth everywhere under the theme ‘Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond.’

Rooted in the belief that global progress begins within communities, this theme highlights the power of local, youth-led initiatives to transform aspirations into real, lasting impact.

“Young people are bold innovators, resilient organizers, and essential partners in in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.”

- António Guterres, UN secretary-general
