About the Service

This service is optional for travelers visiting the country, and is available for residents of the country. In order to import and carry narcotic medicine and psychotropic (controlled medicine) for personal use.

Service Process

Access to the electronic service through the MOHAP website or the SmartApp and create an account on the website or smart application.

Fill out the data and attach the required documents and complete them to obtain approval.

If the conditions are met, the permit will be issued through the MOHAP e-system or Smart APP.

Conditions & Requirements

This service is optional for travelers visiting the country who wish to obtain electronic approvals to carry narcotic medicine and Psychotropics (Controlled medications) with them within the limits of a quantity that does not exceed the patient's need for a maximum period of three months.
It is available also for residents wishing to import narcotic medicine and controlled medicine, through the electronic system to obtain electronic approval (for those over the legal age). Incase the patient is under the legal age, the guardian shall submit through the electronic system.

FAQ’s

Is it mandatory to obtain import permission for all medicines?
The service is available for narcotic, controlled and semi-controlled drugs and is not mandatory for other drugs.
Do I have to attest the medical report from the health authority in the country from which I will bring the medicine?
A medical report issued not more than one year by the health facility in which the patient is treated, authenticated by the health authority in the Country in which the treatment is received, or the Country's embassy therein, or by any accredited authentication body in that country
Do I have to attest the prescription from the health authority in the country from which I will bring the medicine?
A copy of the medical prescription with the patient name that has not been issued for more than three months, provided that it includes the patient’s name, drug trade and /or generic name, dosage form, prescribed dose, the date of issuing the prescription, the duration of treatment, the doctor’s name and stamp and the stamp of the treatment authority, and it must be authenticated by the health authority in the country In which he received treatment, or from the embassy of the country therein, or from any authority approved for documentation in that country
If the medication is held at the airport, can I go to the Ministry of Health and Prevention to submit the application manually?

Required Documents

For residents:
- A copy of the medical prescription with the name of the patient, issued no more than three months ago from the unified electronic platform.
- An authenticated medical report from the health facility in which the patient is treated, within the country.
- Copy of Emirates ID or passport.
For Travelers:
- A medical report issued not more than one year by the health facility in which the patient is treated, authenticated by the health authority in the Country in which the treatment is received, or the Country's embassy therein, or by any accredited authentication body in that country Or Copy of the prescription with the name of the patient, issued not more than three months, provided that it includes the patient's full name, the drug trade and /or generic namel , the pharmaceutical form, the prescribed dose, the date of issuing the prescription, the duration of treatment, the name of the physician, his/ her seal and the stamp of the treating authority and must be authenticated by the health authority in the Country in which the treatment was received, or the Country's embassy therein, or by any accredited authentication body in that Country.
