World No Tobacco Day 2020, which takes place on 31 May under the theme “protecting youth from industry manipulation and preventing them from tobacco and nicotine use”, aims to raise people’s awareness about the health risks of smoking and its economic development burdens on governments and societies, and the need to continue to implement effective policies to reduce tobacco consumption.

The UAE Government announced on Saturday that 42,624 additional COVID-19 tests have been conducted among UAE citizens and residents, resulting in the detection of 726 new cases, taking the cumulative total of infections in the country to 33,896.

In line with the Ministry of Health and Prevention’s plans to increase COVID-19 testing throughout the country for the early detection of infections, particularly among those who had contact with already infected cases, the Ministry has conducted more than 36,000 additional tests.

The UAE Government announced on Wednesday that 27,540 additional COVID-19 tests have been conducted among UAE citizens and residents, resulting in the detection of 883 new cases, taking the total number of infections recorded in the country to 31,969.

In line with the Ministry of Health and Prevention’s plans to increase the number of COVID-19 tests throughout the country for the early detection of infections, particularly amongst those who may have had contact with infected individuals, the Ministry has conducted 49,000 additional tests.
