Dr. Mohamed Salim Al Olama, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health visited Kuwait and Al Dhaid Hospitals as part of his regular checkup visits for the hospitals. The Undersecretary was accompanied by Dr. Youssif Al Serkal, Assistant Undersecretary for Hospitals Sector.

At Kuwait Hospital, Mrs. Amna Karam, Director of Kuwait Hospital explained a detailed information about the hospital’s scope of work and services that are presented to the patients and visitors.

The Undersecretary reviewed the current status of the hospitals and called for the renovation of some departments to be compatible with the strategy of the Ministry of Health and express the progress and development of the country. He also visited a number of departments such as the emergency ward, intensive care unit, x-ray department and addressed to provide an imaging device to detect breast cancer, upgrade the ultraviolet and CT scan as soon as possible and enable all the hospitals to provide the necessary tests for patients anytime.

The Undersecretary listened to a brief explanation from both doctors and technicians about the about the shortage of the nursing staff as well as the future needs and requirements in the health field. Dr. Al Olama recommended to employ the necessary staff as soon as possible. He also called for raising complaints and customer satisfaction report on a monthly basis to his office in the ministry to maintain the international performance rates in serving the clients.

In Al Dhaid Hospital, Dr. Al Olama was received by Ali Al Shamsi, Director of Al Dhaid Hospital and visited the x-ray department and dialysis unit. The undersecretary recommended to upgrade the x-ray equipments and activate the dialysis unit, provide professional doctors and nursing staff noting that the ministry’s hospitals will undergo comprehensive assessment to be accredited by international specialized organizations.

Additionally, the undersecretary addressed to benefit from the modern technologies in achieving and satisfying the needs of the visitors. Electronic services are now a vital demand for all healthcare professionals noting that the ministry is currently upgrading all its transactions to improve all its information technology services and achieve communication with all its members.

In the end of the visit, Dr. Mohamed Salim Al Olama, stated that the ministry of health continues its efforts to improve the hospitals; employ the best specialized doctors and consultants and provide the best medical equipments in all hospitals as well as the best therapeutic services for all UAE nationals and residents.
