Coinciding with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, UAE Prime Minister, Ruler of Dubai, to provide e-government services on mobile phones for all customers’ round the clock and satisfy their needs easily, efficiently and professionally, and the directives of the federal government to improve its services and achieve high quality services for UAE nationals and expatriates, the Ministry of Health launched smart applications and a number of e-services.

His Excellency Abdul Rahman Al Owais, UAE Minister of Health, said: “Due to the technological rapid changes nowadays that made community members depend on smart phones a enormously, we sought the transformation into smart services to smoothen transactions on individuals and save time and effort”. His Excellency stated that the Ministry of Health was keen to adopt the vision of the UAE leadership in establishing a smart government that would enhance the health of community members in providing comprehensive services in a sustainable healthy environment and implement policies, legislations and activate local and international partnerships that would serve in improving the performance of federal government organizations and gain customers confidence.

In this context, the Ministry of Health launched a number of smart phones and tablet services in order to provide customers with exquisite services; improve them regularly and enable the customers to receive these services round the clock quickly and easily.

The smart services applications give top priority public health and include: services guidelines, doctors and technicians examination schedules. The applications also include health awareness advices about the unified drugs list, MoH licensed doctors’ guidelines, google map search of all the ministry’s hospitals and health centers to satisfy the needs of patients and reach the location map of any facility easily.

The services target community members and specialized companies or organizations in this field. Hence, all smart applications save time and effort for the customer through new channels with fewer and easier steps taking into consideration the importance of such services not only to the ministry but to the community as well. It is noted that all these services can be found in all mobile phones and tablets through: (google play, apple store, windows store).

The smart application also includes all the activities and events that are implemented by the Ministry of Health in cooperation with all internal and external stakeholders, services guidelines which is characterized with a search engine of all administrative or therapeutic services; this can be found either through the name of the targeted audience or the service itself.

The ministry’s e-services include the e-payment feature and provide technicians and doctors the examination timings and schedules. It also enables the community members to search for MoH licensed doctors either through the name of the doctor himself, specialization or place of work. In the pharmacy field, the services provide information about the common price list including the name of the trade and scientific name of the drug with its price in the UAE. Individuals can also search for the health facility such as hospitals, clinics or health centers with full details, search engines and contacts. The system also consists of ambulance services and direct response to emergency cases.

One of the most exquisite services in the smart application is the minister’s gate. The services allow the individuals to communicate with the ministry of health easily through this gate. In the field of heath education, there are several applications that assist the customers to calculate their calories, a mathematics transaction that helps people count their calories, BMI, height and weight regularly. All health education awareness messages include useful ideas and to the health and safety of individuals. The applications enable the customers to also communicate with the ministry through social media networking “facebook, twitter, instagram, youtube”.
