Dr. Mohamed Salim Al Olama, Undersecretary for the Ministry of Health (MoH), recently visited Emirati patients currently undergoing treatment across various private hospitals in Bangkok, Thailand. Al Olama led a delegation of senior ministry officials to check on the condition of medical and health care services being administered to Emirati citizens—reflecting the UAE government’s interest in the health and wellbeing of its nationals.
Joining the MoH Undersecretary were H.E. Dr. Nasser Khalifa Al Budoor, Assistant Undersecretary, MoH and Director of Dubai Medical District; Dr. Essa Al Mansouri, Director of International Organizations Department and Director, Undersecretary’s Office, MoH; Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Hamoudi, Director of Fujairah Medical Zone and Supplement Health and Mohammed Abdul Rahman Al Jarwan, UAE Embassy in Thailand.
The Emirati patients felt joy and happiness over being visited by the top UAE officials and also expressed well wishes and prayers for His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.
Undersecretary Al Olama shared that the visit falls in line with the UAE government’s commitment towards checking the health and wellbeing of Emirati patients seeking treatment inside and outside the country. He also pointed out that the Ministry will extend all assistance needed by Emirati’s seeking medical treatment abroad—from the facilitation of all travel documentation to the obtaining of proper medical reports for the patient. He directed local embassy officials to conduct regular visits to Emirati patients, especially during National events and holidays—further directing them to urge local healthcare officials to provide the best medical services for these Emirati patients.
In addition to visiting Emirati patients, the MoH delegation also met with the UAE embassy’s health attaché in Bangkok. During this meeting, Undersecretary Al Olama was briefed on the local embassy’s efforts in facilitating the medical treatments of Emiratis in Thailand, both at the expense of the MoH and those paid by the patients themselves. The delegation was also presented with printed guides and brochures featuring key information about hospitals duly accredited and recommended by the embassy.
