The Emirates Gastroenterology and Hepatology Society, in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP), have launched a hepatitis C awareness campaign under the slogan ‘Ready To Be Hepatitis C Cured’. The campaign was announced during the HCV Majlis held today March 21st, 2018, under the Patronage and attendance of H.E. Dr. Hussein Abdel-Rahman Rand, MOHAP’s Assistant Undersecretary for Health Centers and Clinics, and supported by the Dubai Health Authority and Gilead Sciences.

Healthcare Issues Ministry of Health and Prevention assures National Health Survey running smoothly
The Ministry of Health and Prevention has assured that the ongoing World Health Organization-approved National Health Survey launched across the UAE on October 29, 2017, under the theme ‘Health Priority’ is running smoothly. Being conducted in cooperation with several government entities, the survey aims to strengthen the country’s health database in aid of national policy making and strategy development processes to improve local health care services according to the objectives of the UAE National Agenda 2021 and the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development.

Healthcare Issues Ministry of Health and Prevention organizes training workshop under empowerment and education diabetes program
The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) organized an intensive training session for health care providers who offer diabetic care at the Ministry's clinics, under the Diabetes and Empowerment Program within the framework of the ‘Circle of Care’ initiative in cooperation with AstraZeneca Company. The training workshop, held at the Sharjah Training and Development Center, aimed to improve diabetes self-management by evaluating patients' awareness levels on the disease and self-care patterns, in addition to evaluating improvements in the quality of their lives, to achieve the set diabetes goals within the UAE National Agenda 2021.

Healthcare Issues Ministry of Health and Prevention provides early detection services for neonatal genetic diseases
In line with the Ministry of Health and Prevention efforts to provide comprehensive and innovative health services in accordance with the highest standards of excellence, professionalism, and leadership in the health sector, the Ministry has announced that it provides early detection services for neonatal diseases. MOHAP has revealed that its Laboratory for genetic & neonatal screening services is the only facility of its kind to provide the neonatal screening testing on a national scale for all newborns in the UAE--from both government and private segments.

Healthcare Issues Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health and Prevention and Serbian Ambassador to the UAE discuss cooperation in the health sector
His Excellency (H.E.) Dr. Mohammad Salim Al Olama, Undersecretary for the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) recently met HE Milos Perisic, the Serbian ambassador to the UAE, to discuss the possibility of further developing bilateral cooperation in the exchange and sharing of knowledge and experiences in the health sectors of both countries. The meeting, which was held at the Ministry's headquarters in Abu Dhabi, was also attended by Doctor Essa Bin Jakka Al Mansouri, Director, International Health Relations, MOHAP.

Healthcare Issues Ministry of Health and Prevention launches eighth edition of Lose Grams Win Years program
The Ministry of Health and Prevention’s (MOHAP) Education and Health Promotion Department launched the eighth edition of the ‘Lose Grams, Win Years’ program which will run from March 14 to April 26, 2018. The initiative is being held for the second consecutive year with the Sharjah School for Humanitarian Services aimed at encouraging participating special needs students with an overweight condition to learn how to make positive changes in their lifestyles through healthy diet and exercise.
