Free medical check-ups at the country’s airports and health tips to ensure safety during the Hajj season

UAE, September 20, 2015 – The Ministry of Health has concluded a successful campaign launched to provide full support for Hajj pilgrims. The Ministry has set up its own kiosks in strategic locations inside Dubai International Airport, Abu Dhabi International Airport and Sharjah International Airport to provide travelling pilgrims with basic medical examinations such as blood sugar and blood pressure tests, among others. The campaign falls in line with the Ministry’s efforts of ensuring the overall well-being of individuals and society by providing outstanding health care services in accordance with the highest international standards.

Ministry of Health and Sanofi strengthen resolve to build a robust pharmacovigilance environment in UAE

UAE, September 16, 2015 - Organized under the patronage of H.E. Abdul Rahman Al Owais, UAE Minister of Health, the Fifth National Pharmacovigilance Conference has began today (Wednesday, September 16) in continuation to the efforts for the ‘Integration Initiative’ launched in September 2014. One of the key aims of the long-term partnership program between the UAE Ministry of Health (MOH) and Sanofi is to enhance the pharmacovigilance infrastructure through developing pharmacists' skills, efficiency and performance in alignment with the unified healthcare strategy.

Ministry of Health’s high-level officials evaluate quality of medical services in Sharjah and Fujairah

UAE, 15 September 2015 - Dr. Mohamad Salim Al Olama, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, and H.E. Dr. Yousif Mohammed Al-Serkal, Assistant Undersecretary for the Hospitals Sector, made a series of visits to various health care facilities in Sharjah and Fujairah to evaluate their compliance with the highest international standards in line with the Ministry’s vision of establishing a healthy society through the provision of comprehensive and holistic health care services. The top government officials first went to the Blood Bank of Sharjah which conducted a successful blood donation campaign for the UAE soldiers wounded while fighting in Yemen. The blood bank and its employees were commended for their initiative, commitment to and support for the country’s armed forces. In Fujairah, H.E. the Undersecretary made recommendations for improvements following his and his team’s visit to the soon-to-be-opened Alkhalibia Center. Similarly, the Ministry’s delegation gave their suggestions for further enhancing the services at Dibba Fujairah Hospital. During their inspection of the hospital facilities, the delegates recommended the purchase of a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machine. They also suggested that nurses at the Emergency Department undergo regular training sessions to further improve their skills in responding to emergency cases such as accidents.

Ministry of Health organizes 2nd workshop of National Program to Combat Obesity

UAE, September 8, 2015 – The UAE Ministry of Health represented by the Health Education and Promotion Department of the Health Clinics and Centers, organized the second workshop under the ‘National Program to Combat Obesity’ for private school nurses in Sharjah and the Northern Emirates. The session, which was attended by 7 health officers and 50 nurses, was held within the framework of the UAE National Agenda 2021 announced by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. The UAE Council of Ministers aims reduce the rate of obesity among children within the age group of 5-17 years by 12 per cent.
