Kalba Hospital in cooperation with the primary healthcare department in Sharjah Education Council celebrated the world blood donor day under the title “Safe Blood saves mothers’ lives’. Coinciding with the world blood donor day, the event included a number of activities such as the blood group test workshop, awareness lecture about the importance of blood donation, distribution of blood brochures about blood groups.

Dr. Hussein Abdul Rahman Al Rand, Assistant Undersecretary for Centers and Clinics Sector and Chairman of the National Blood Transfusion Higher Committee, lauded the efforts of the Islamic Affairs Department in Sharjah in cooperation with Sharjah Blood Transfusion and Research Center for organizing blood donation campaigns during the holy month of Ramadan reassuring the rules of mosques Imams for their humanitarian initiative and encouragement to Muslims during the holy mong.

The Education and Health Promotion Department, under the umbrella of the Ministry of Health, launched the smart cart initiative under the title “Eat smartly and live healthy” in Aswaq Mall Branches in Dubai and Sharjah Co-operative Society.

The Ministry of Health, in coordination with Sharjah Education Council organized a training program “First Aid and Pediatric CPR” Training Program “on Thursday 26th June 2014”. The program aims to increase the awareness of the nursery authorities to eliminate the dangers of injuries and provide a safety environment for children. The training program comes as part of the ministry’s interest to enhance the employees of government nurseries on the methods of dealing with emergency cases.

Dr. Mohammed Salim Al Olama, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, met with Excellency Peter Elsner-Makcay, Austrian Ambassador to the UAE to discuss various bilateral cooperation issues. The meeting was attended by Dr. Essa Ahmed Al Mansouri, Director of Undersecretary’s Office and Director of International Health Relations Department. The two parties discussed ways of cooperation and progress in various health and medical issues.

The Ministry of Health participated in the International Therapeutic Conference and Exhibition in Turkey which was held between 11-14 June 2014. The ministry was represented by Dr. Mostafa Al Sayed Al Hashemi, Deputy Director of Dubai Medical District and Director of Therapeutic Tourism Program in the Ministry of Health.Dr. Mostafa Al Hashemi, lauded the efforts of the participants and expressed the UAE’s efforts in enhancing the role of therapeutic treatment since it represents a large support to the industry of the country thanks to the strategic location, political and economic stability of the country. He said: “The UAE is known for its positive environment and attraction for businessmen and investors from all over the world; it is also characterized with flexible laws and regulations in addition to the supporting infrastructure for therapeutic treatment and diagnostic services in all medical fields”.
