The UAE Ministry of Health has announced the launch of the Health Education Guide for School Students under the patronage of Dr. Hussein Abdel-Rahman Al Rand, Undersecretary of the Ministry’s Health Assistant Sector - Health Centers and Clinics. This first-of-its-kind initiative in the UAE is a result of cooperation between the Primary Healthcare Department represented by the School health section and the Health Education and promotion Department.

The Higher Committee for Registration of Complementary Medicine in Dubai headed by Dr. Amin Hussein Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary for the Ministry of Health’s Public Health Policy and Licensing Sector, recently conducted a meeting to discuss the adoption of 90 new complementary medicines that have been submitted for registration. Ministry officials and representatives from Health Authority-Abu Dhabi (HAAD), Zayed Complex for Herbal Research and Traditional Medicine, Dubai Municipality and other specialized organizations attended the meeting.

The Ministry of Health, represented by the Committee on Continuing Medical Education in Dubai Medical District, hosted today (31 October, 2015) the “Seventh Symposium on Family Medicine” titled ‘Women’s Health in Primary Health Care.’ Sponsored by Bayer, the seminar at the Al Bustan Rotana Hotel Dubai on Airport Road will be organized for the benefit of primary healthcare physicians, nurses, pharmacists and technicians in Dubai and the Northern Emirates.

The UAE Ministry of Health represented by its Health Clinics and Centers’ Health Education and Promotion Department, recently organized its third educational workshop in Sharjah forming part of the ‘Healthy Restaurant’ initiative which saw the participation of 15 restaurants. The workshop is one of the promotional activities of the initiative which was introduced earlier in other emirates. The first educational workshop was hosted in Ajman and gathered 15 restaurants participated, while 14 restaurants assembled for the second workshop in Fujairah.

A high-level delegation from the UAE Ministry of Health (MoH), led by His Excellency (H.E.) Abdul Rahman Al Owais, Minister of Health, successfully participated in the 2nd Meeting of the GCC Committee of Health Ministers, which was held last October 21, 2015 in Doha, Qatar. The meeting, which was chaired by Qatar Health Minister H.E. Abdullah Bin Khalid Al Qahtani, was held in the presence of H.E. Dr. Abdul Latif Bin Rashid Al Zayani, the Secretary General of the GCC for the Arab States of the Gulf and drew participation from the Health Ministers from GCC countries.

H.E. Abdul Rahman Al Owais, UAE Minister of Health, has opened the fourth session of the Ministry of Health Strategic Forum 2017- 2021. The Forum provides a platform for senior health officials to analyse the present national healthcare framework and develop a strategic plan to improve efficiency and efficacy of government performance. This is in line with the directives of the UAE National Agenda launched by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to establish a world-class healthcare system by 2021.
