His Excellency Dr. Muhamad Salim Al Olama, Undersecretary, Ministry of Health (MoH), recently held a meeting with His Excellency Michel Miraaa, French Ambassador to the UAE, at the Ministry’s offices in Abu Dhabi to discuss efforts in strengthening cooperation between the UAE and France, especially in the health sector—including the smooth exchange of knowledge and information, development of new health policies and legislation and the implementation of new standards and guidelines concerning the maintenance of health facilities. In addition, the UAE is looking towards learning more from French medical experts, particularly in the field of continuing medical education. Also present at the meeting was Dr. Issa Al Mansouri, Director of International Organizations Department, MoH.

H.E. Dr. Yousef Al Serkal Assistant, Undersecretary for the Hospitals Sector, Ministry of Health (MoH), recently inaugurated the ‘Innovation Laboratories’ at the MOH office as part of a series of initiatives developed for UAE Innovation Week. The launch featured interactive training workshops with strong staff participation in an effort to develop tools, enhance innovation, and establish a health care system at par with the best international standards. This initiative reflects the country’s pursuit of excellence in leadership and its shift towards a proactive and smart government that enhances the well-being of citizens.

The Training and Development Center at the Ministry of Health recently organized a conference titled “2015 Emergency Cardiovascular Care Guidelines, International Instructor Update ” in partnership with the American Heart Association. Held at the center in Sharjah, the event was attended by medical and nursing professionals in the resuscitation field from government and private institutions in the UAE, Kuwait, Morocco, Turkey, India, Pakistan and South Africa.

A high-level delegation from the UAE Ministry of Health (MoH) headed by its Undersecretary, His Excellency (H.E.) Dr. Mohamed Salim Al Olama, completed its visit to Malaysia. During the trip, the UAE delegation was met by their counterparts from the Malaysian Ministry of Health, which was led by Deputy Health Minister Dr. Hilmi Yahya and joined by representatives from the public and private sector, universities and scientific research organizations. The meeting saw the discussion on how the two countries can reinforce their ties and increase cooperation in the health sector—facilitating smoother exchange of information and experiences, implementing shared training and rehabilitation programs and developing benchmark medical practices and forms of treatment.

His Excellency (H.E.) Dr. Mohamed Salim Al Olama, Undersecretary for the Ministry of Health (MoH), recently visited Emirati patients currently undergoing treatment across various private hospitals in Bangkok, Thailand. Al Olama led a delegation of senior ministry officials to check on the condition of medical and health care services being administered to Emirati citizens—reflecting the UAE government’s interest in the health and wellbeing of its nationals.

H.E. Dr. Hussein Abdul Rahman Rand, Assistance Undersecretary of Health Centers and Clinics Sector, UAE Ministry of Health and President – Ear, Nose and Throat Division, Emirates Medical Association, has revealed that Dr. Mohammed Hoqani, Consultant – Chest Diseases Medicine sleep, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the UAE University conducted a seminar on ‘Sleep Apnea - Risk to Health and Traffic Accidents’. Held in cooperation with Metro-Med and Philips, the conference was held at the Oberoi Hotel Business Bay in Dubai.
