UAE, September 9, 2015 – The UAE Ministry of Health represented by the Health Education and Promotion Department of the Health Clinics and Centers, organized the second workshop under the ‘National Program to Combat Obesity’ for private school nurses in Sharjah and the Northern Emirates. The session, which was attended by 7 health officers and 50 nurses, was held within the framework of the UAE National Agenda 2021 announced by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. The UAE Council of Ministers aims reduce the rate of obesity among children within the age group of 5-17 years by 12 per cent.

His Excellency Abdul Rahman Mohamed Al Owais, UAE Minister of Health, lauded the directives of His Highness Sheikh Khelifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE President, to raise the provided healthcare services for UAE nationals through the approval of the initiatives of His Highness the UAE president to fulfill the needs and requirements of Al Qassimi Hospital and specifying 54 million AED dirhams to provide the hospital with modern equipments. As part of the efforts of the Ministry of Health, it adopted a number of health programs and projects to enhance the health of community members and increase the service standards of hospitals and medical equipments.

The three nursing winners of the Distinguished Employee Award (Testahel) -within the medical professions category- have been honored by H.E Dr. Yousif Mohammed Al-Serkal, Assistant Undersecretary for the Hospitals Sector in the Ministry of Health (MOH). The winners were honored in a ceremony organized by the Hospitals Sector and in the presence of Ms. Fatima Al-Wali, from the Department of Corporate Excellence, and Ms. Aysha Ali Al-Mahri, Director of the Department of Nursing. The three winners of the award were: Ms. Jamila Khalaf Al- Hosani, Director of Nursing at Ajman Medical District, Ms. Shaikha Ibrahim Al Ali, Director of Nursing at Umm Al Quwain Medical District, and Mr. Jamal Mohammed Al-Foqaha Senior Charge Technician at Sharjah Medical District.

The Ministry of Health awarded the Hospitals Evaluation team members at the Creative Governmental Lab initiatives of the initiative titled "Government Evaluation of Hospitals and Healthcare Centers" which is considered as one of the UAE Cabinet initiatives.

Sharjah Medical District participated in the emirati humanitarian day in memory of the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founder and establisher of the UAE. The district visited patients in the hospitals of Sharjah medical district to enhance humanitarian deeds which was established by the late Sheikh Zayed and cohesion between the community members.

Under the title “loyalty and dedication to the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan” and implementation of the emirati humanitarian day, Um Al Qiwain Medical District organized the humanitarian day in Um Al Qiwain Hospital in the attendance of Sheikh Fatmah Bint Abdulla Al Qassimi, Acting Director of Um Al Qiwain Medical District, who emphasized the importance of humanitarian deeds in enhancing societal security and integrity among the members of the society, cultural dissemination to the meanings of dedication and loyalty as called by the late Sheikh Zayed Al Nahyan in the younger generations.
